My dude and fellow Teruo rock star Kene G hits me up and was like “yo I need you to engineer a session with Brenda Lee (Patty Labelle, Aretha Franklin) and Coolio”. I almost fell out like what a crazy mix. If you know one thing about my dude Kene G though it would be that he has the key to the city and will put people from all walks of life in the same room. I get there with my dude Bantu who was rocking the “Seed” my favorite Teruo jump off all time. I dap up Coolio and the crew and instantly see that this cat has as much energy and charisma as a 2 litre of red bull. He starts to tell me a show he rocked in Italy when he re-injured a bad ACL and had to rock the whole show from a wheel chair and that it was one of his best shows (LOL). Also how 4 generations came up to him at a show saying they love his music Daughter 19, Mother 36, Grandma 65. He was like where is the 4th the daughter... The daughter says, "I'm pregnant (LOL)." Coolio lets me know he is releasing a new album 1st Qtr 2008 and lets me hear his new single with Snoop Dog. Shit was pretty slap I can’t lie. I watched Coolio play ride the imaginary Dolphin entertaining Mira Sorvino (The Replacement Killers, Oscar Winner) who was private shopping at the Von Dutch headquarters where we have the studio. Coolio then went around the whole room spitting verses off his new album. This dude has mad character with crazy energy and you can see how he made a career for himself long after the one or two hit wonder syndrome people think he was infected with.
